First impression: opening the Chronical box
Today I will embark on a bubbly adventure with the Chronical Fermenter of 14 gallons (52 liters) of SS Brewtech. In this first installment, I will share my thoughts after the unboxing, the configuration and cleaning of this brilliant protagonist of our homemade beers.
Do you really need a stainless steel conical?
Let’s be sincere, it is not necessary to have a stainless steel fermenter that shines more than a diamond to make a good homemade beer. In fact, a simple glass or plastic carboy is enough. It’s like saying that you need a sports car to go to the supermarket. However, if beer is your passion, this type of fermenters offers convincing advantages, such as better process control, and cleaning is a walk in the park thanks to stainless steel.
Chronical SS Brewtech features characteristics
The Chronical series is designed for the passionate of artisanal beer and piloting. Available in four sizes: 7 Gal (26.5 L), GAL (53 L), 1/2 Barril (17 Gal/64 L) and 1 barrel (41 gal/155 L), each size fits different finished lots, with sufficient space for bubbles of happiness.
Two versions to choose
SS Brewtech not only remains to offer different capabilities, but also has the standard variant and ‘brewmaster’, which includes improved functionalities. Although the basic structure is the same, improvements can make your fermentation experience even more exciting.
Essential aspects of the Chronical Fermenter
So, what does this fermenter bring to the table? Well, here are some characteristics that make a difference:
Solid construction
Made of stainless steel 304, the chronical is a durable partner. It has recorded volume lines and two triclover settings to facilitate yeast collection. Ideal for the most fussy brewers!
Temperature control
One of the reasons why I opted for this model was its attractive temperature control system. This device feeds on a cooler with ice water, keeping my precious beer at the ideal temperature. It’s like having a fermentation refrigerator, but more friendly with space.
Configuration experience: starting with good foot
When the box arrived, it was like opening an anticipated birthday gift. After a brief assembly and cleaning care process, the fermenter was ready to display its magic. I was able to assemble pieces and accessories easily, although cleaning demanded some extra effort.
A cleaning challenge
It is important to remember that this beautiful device needs to be impeccable before each use. If you want to ensure that your beer does not have strange flavors, be sure to follow the cleaning protocol rigorously.
Final impressions and what comes
Until now, the experience with the Chronical of SS Brewtech has been mostly positive, leaving behind the tedious part of cleaning. In the next part, I will embark on the elaboration of my first beers and share my impressions about the fermentation process. I promise you will not be bored.
Stay attentive to more information, and remember that each sip is the result of hard work, so enjoy the creation of the best homemade beer!
